Frequently asked questions

Your questions answered.
How does pricing work?
Zapat uses a pay-as-you-go prepaid balance model. You top up your balance via Stripe, and tasks start as low as $3 depending on complexity — with configurable per-issue budget limits. New accounts get $15 in compute credits to try it out, no credit card required. Refer friends — you both get $5 per referral, up to $15 more.
What is auto-recharge?
Auto-recharge automatically tops up your balance when it drops below a threshold you set. You control the recharge amount and monthly limit so you never get surprised. Available on Pro tier and above.
What happens when my balance runs out?
When your balance hits zero, new issues are paused in a “pending funds” state. They'll automatically resume once you top up. In-progress issues will complete normally.
Can I try Zapat before adding a payment method?
Yes. Every new account gets $15 in compute credits — enough for 1–2 issues — with no credit card required. Refer friends — you both get $5 (up to $15 more), bringing your total to $35 in credits. Experience the full pipeline before deciding to top up.
What types of issues can Zapat handle?
Zapat handles well-scoped backlog items: bug fixes, test coverage gaps, dependency updates, small features, refactors, and documentation. The full pipeline — triage, implement, test, review, rework, merge — runs end-to-end. Works best with clearly described issues.
What about BYOC (Bring Your Own Compute)?
BYOC is on our roadmap for teams that need code to stay on their own infrastructure. Today, Zapat runs on managed cloud compute in isolated containers. Join the waitlist for BYOC early access.
Is it safe? What if Zapat breaks my code?
Every Zapat PR goes through the same review process your team uses — security review, code review, and automated tests — all before you see it. You always review and merge. Nothing merges without your approval unless you explicitly enable auto-merge for low-risk changes.
How is Zapat different from GitHub Copilot?
Copilot assists you while you code — autocomplete, inline suggestions. Zapat clears your backlog. You label an issue, walk away, and come back to a reviewed PR. No IDE required. Copilot makes you faster; Zapat takes issues off your plate entirely.
How do cost controls work?
You set a per-issue budget limit in your pipeline settings. Most tasks start as low as $3 depending on complexity. Every PR includes a full cost breakdown so you always know exactly what was spent. No surprises, no runaway jobs.
